Providing workplace experience

Providing workplace experience

Nothing beats hands-on experience for gaining an insight into working life, and your business can also benefit in a number of ways.

Opening your doors to young people is an opportunity to raise awareness and understanding of your organisation and industry, and help students transition into the workplace.

And in the longer-term you could have a future employee. Activities include hosting short workplace visits or longer industry placement opportunities for older students.

Work experience framework

As employers, you'll appreciate that employing people who have had previous experience of the workplace is extremely beneficial and is something that is increasingly expected from applicants. Its important that these experiences are quality and give a real flavour of what working life is about.

We also know how much time designing a meaningful work experience can be, so we have prepared a series of resources, advice and guidance to support you to deliver this.

If you're an employer with a work experience programme, or would like to introduce one, you can use this useful framework and modules to help you plan an effective work experience programme.

T Level placements

T Levels are designed to help students develop the knowledge and technical skills required for skilled careers. They have been developed in collaboration with employers to reflect what they need and prepare learners for work in that industry as an alternative to A Levels.

Find out more about T-levels, hear from learners and employers about their experiences and where you can develop your knowledge about this exciting new technical education pathway.
